SiliconValley NewTech Meetup - February 2009

A great superbowl on sunday right? What's funny, is thing I heartalked about most around the valley is not the touch down scored viasome Steealer's head, but what advertising budgets looked like and howthis was not a strong year for commercials :P
So there's a new item at the bottom of the newsletter that goes outeach month. Even as optimistic as I love to be, the effects of theeconomy have definitely hit Silicon Valley with lay-offs (thetech-sector globally has seen more then 1/4 million lay-offs in thepast year). I think 2009 will be an interesting year and I havenothing but high expectations for solid companies to really shinethrough this time. Benjamin Hill had the great idea of including a jobboard on the newsletter - so that our community has another outlet tohelp each other out. A new member from nyc, Chris Hutchins, isorganizing http://laidoffcamp.pbwiki.com. In addition to the newsletter, I'll post a copy at on our forum at: http://forum.newtechmeetup.org/forum/category/job-postings/
