iKubu: South African opportunities

Hi all,
I'm a serial entrepreneur and software engineer - it's good to be in Silicon Valley (virtually).  I co-founded a technology development company, iKubu, about 3 years ago.  We're currently 6 people.

What are we working on?
We've just completed the development of a micronmeter.  Its a device that uses the diffraction of light to measure the thickness of wool.  Our accuracy: within one thousandth of a millimeter...and that's using a normal 3 mega pixel CCD image sensor!  We used uClinux on a blackfin chip - so really good fun.

We've also made a strategic partnership with a Chinese hardware development & manufacturing company.  These are guys with great integrity whom we know well.

Opportunities
With the world economic downturn, I guess everyone is trying to cut costs.  Quality high-tech engineering services are obviously very expensive, and outsourcing to India and China is very rarely the right fit - mostly due to cultural and language differences.

I believe that the weakness of the South African rand puts us in an excellent position to provide leverage for a Silicon Valley based entrepreneur.  Our time difference (+- 10 hours) also creates the perfect opportunity for a 24-hour "skunk-works" type of scenario.  Have a look at the short company profile I've attached - the second page provides a sampling of the talent at iKubu.

We really want to build relationships with like minded people who we can team up with to change the world.  Are you up for it?

Live long and prosper
